- Treat horserace polling as the only story worth telling
- Reprint campaign press releases and call it reporting
Our standards
Every news story is reviewed by at least one editor who didn’t write it. Corrections are issued visibly, with the original error preserved and the change explained. Sources are named whenever protecting them isn’t the only way the story gets told — and when we do use anonymous sources, we explain why in the piece. See our Editorial Standards for the full policy.
