About Us

Election News Desk is an independent news outlet covering elections, politics, and democracy worldwide. We started with one premise: when readers go to the polls or follow a race, they deserve coverage that takes the work of democracy seriously without taking itself too seriously.

What we cover

  • Live results and breaking news from U.S. and international elections
  • Congressional, gubernatorial, and state-level races
  • Campaign finance, ballot measures, and election administration
  • Polls, data, and methodology — explained, not just published
  • Investigations, fact checks, and longer features on the people and institutions shaping politics

What we don’t do

  • Endorse candidates, parties, or ballot measures
  • Publish unverified claims as fact, even when other outlets do
  • Treat horserace polling as the only story worth telling
  • Reprint campaign press releases and call it reporting

Our standards

Every news story is reviewed by at least one editor who didn’t write it. Corrections are issued visibly, with the original error preserved and the change explained. Sources are named whenever protecting them isn’t the only way the story gets told — and when we do use anonymous sources, we explain why in the piece. See our Editorial Standards for the full policy.

Editorial independence

Election News Desk is not affiliated with any political party, government body, campaign, or election authority. Advertising and editorial operate as separate teams. Sponsored content is labeled clearly and produced by a different group of writers. No advertiser, donor, campaign, or representative has the ability to spike a story or shape coverage in exchange for access.
